Son yıllarda az gelişmiş bölgelerden İstanbul kentine olan aşırı göç ve artan nüfus sebebiyle yeşil alan ve otopark ihtiyaçları giderek artmaktadır. İstanbul'un plansız bir şekilde gelişme göstermesinden dolayı yeşil alanlar dengeli bir şekilde yaşam alanlarına dahil edilememiştir. Taleplerin yerine getirilebilmesi için kent bazında birden çok işleve sahip tasarımlar gündeme gelmektedir. Zemin altı otopark ve üzeri park projeleri de bu kapsamda gelişen projelerdendir. Esenler ilçesi yoğun nufusu ve yeşil alanlarının hem alansal büyüklük açısından hemde kişi başına düşen miktar açısından oldukça az olması nedeniyle örnek ilçe olarak seçilmiştir. Esenler ilçesinde tasarlanmış ve uygulaması tamamlanmış Nene Hatun Otopark Üstü park çalışması örnek alan olarak ele alınmış ve peyzaj tasarım ilkeleri açsından incelenmiştir.
In recent years, due to increasing population and excessive immigration from the less developed regions, the parking problem and the need of green space in Ġstanbul have been gradually increased. Owing to unplanned urbanization, green spaces could not be included to living spaces in a balanced way. To satisfy the needs on city basis, projects with multiple functions have come out. Underground and over-ground parking have been some of the projects developing within this context. They have been explained with the projects, some of which have already been implemented and some are going to be implemented in various regions of Ġstanbul. Esenler has been chosen as a sample county for its intensive population and inconsiderable green areas per capita. Designation and implementation of Nene Hatun Park above Underground Parking project has been discussed as a sample and analyzed in terms of landscape design work principles.
