In the beginning of time, humankind was used residence only as place where can be protected himself from danger and then in the course of time meaning of residence was changed. Residence became a consumable item as a prestige and status symbol in this day and time. Physical features of the residence seem to be preferential, but emotional belonging to the residence is also important for household. The physical features of the residence are defined as physical dimension and relation with the residence is identified as emotional aspect. A residence is integral with its environment and thus residence immediate environment has an important position at the meaning given to the dwelling. The bond between residence and residence immediate environment effects the preferences. In this work the meaning of satisfaction and belonging at the choice of residence is analyzed within the scope of residence and residence immediate environment.
The aim of research in this sense was to seek an answer of question what affects the choices of household. The notions of satisfaction and sense of belonging are studied in two different aspects such as residence and residence immediate environment (district/town). Bakırköy district one of the important district of Istanbul metropolis because of its cultural and also social diversity is selected as field survey place. Urban apartments with traditional neighborhood structure and gated communities having different life style in Bakırköy district are included to this research. In this dissertation study the notions of satisfaction and sense of belonging are studied within the scope of residence and residence immediate environment by using of depth interview and interview questionnaire one of the qualitative research after an extensive literature survey. The personal characteristics and choices, communication with residence and residence immediate environment of household is studied by using of satisfaction and belonging content analysis method in the study scope.
The topics obtained after content analysis are discussed under main heads of satisfaction and sense of belonging. Location choices, residence choice reasons, ideal spatial environment, residence immediate environment factors, car park, neighborhood, choices of household are related with the topics concerning to the satisfaction. The sense of belonging to neighborhood and town attracts attention at the topics of sense of belonging. Location, residence, habits, recognized environment, choices of household and residence immediate environment factors are topic titles which are relative to sense of belonging.
Research findings and results are shown that residence- residence immediate environment features and residence- residence immediate environment relation play an important role at the satisfaction and sense of belonging of persons. The relations of the factors that affect satisfaction and sense of belonging are commented with the aid of appeared topics. It is considered necessary that choices and desires of household who are dominant user groups should be taken into consideration within the context of their needs on the decision relative to residence- residence immediate environment and the household should be actively participated to the design process.
İnsanoğlu konutu önce sadece barınma ve tehlikelerden korunma amaçlı bir mekân olarak kullanırken, zaman içerisinde konutun anlamı değişmiştir. Konut günümüzde prestij/statü sembolü olarak bir tüketim metası haline gelmiştir. Konut tercihinde genellikle fiziksel özelliklerin değerlendirilmesi öncelikli görünse de duygusal anlamda konutla kurulan bağlar hane halkları için önem taşımaktadır. Konutun fiziksel özellikleri fiziksel boyutu, konutla kurulan ilişki ise duygusal boyutu tanımlamaktadır. Konut çevresiyle bir bütündür ve konuta yüklenen anlamda konut yakın çevresi önemli bir yere sahiptir. Konut ve KYÇ arasındaki bağ kişilerin tercihleri etkilemektedir. Bu çalışmada, konut tercihlerinde memnuniyet ve aidiyetin yeri konut ve konut yakın çevresi ölçeğinde ele alınmıştır.
Bu bağlamda araştırmanın amacı, memnuniyet ve aidiyet kavramlarını konut ve konut yakın çevresi (semt/kent) olmak üzere iki farklı ölçekte inceleyerek hane halklarının tercihlerini nelerin etkilediğine cevap aramaktadır. İstanbul metropolünün önemli ilçelerinden Bakırköy, hem kültürel hem de sosyal çeşitliliği nedeni ile alan çalışması yapılacak bölge olarak seçilmiştir. Çalışma kapsamına; Bakırköy ilçesinde geleneksel mahalle dokusunda yer alan kent içi apartmanlar ve farklı bir yaşam tarzı sunan korumalı yerleşimler dâhil edilmiştir. Tez çalışmasında, kapsamlı literatür taramasından sonra niteliksel araştırma yöntemlerinden derinlemesine görüşme tekniği ve görüşme formu yaklaşımı kullanılarak memnuniyet ve aidiyet kavramları konut ve konut yakın çevresi ölçeğinde irdelenmiştir. Çalışma kapsamında hane halklarının kişisel özellikleri, tercihleri, konut ve konut yakın çevresi ile olan iletişimleri, memnuniyet ve aidiyetleri içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir.
İçerik analizi sonucunda elde edilen temalar memnuniyet ve aidiyet ana başlıkları altında ele alınmıştır. Memnuniyet ile ilgili temalar; konum tercihleri, konut içi tercih nedenleri, ideal kentsel mekân, konut yakın çevresi çevresel faktörler, otopark, komşuluk ve hane halkı tercihleri ile ilgilidir. Aidiyet ile ilgili temalarda semte ve kente hissedilen aidiyet dikkat çekmektedir. Konum, konut içi, alışkanlıklar-bilinen çevre, hane halkı tercihleri ve konut yakın çevresi çevresel faktörler aidiyetle ilgili tema başlıklarıdır.
Araştırma bulguları ve sonuçlarında, konut-konut yakın çevresi özelliklerinin ve konut-konut yakın çevresi ilişkisinin kişilerdeki memnuniyet ve aidiyet duygularını etkilediği ortaya çıkmıştır. Memnuniyet ve aidiyeti etkileyen faktörlerin ilişkileri ortaya çıkan temalar yardımı ile yorumlanmıştır. Konut ve konut yakın çevresi ile ilgili tasarım kararlarında, ana kullanıcı grubu olan hane halklarının ihtiyaçları doğrultusunda tercihlerin ve isteklerinin dikkate alınması gerektiği ve hane halklarının tasarım sürecine aktif olarak katılmaları gerektiği görülmektedir.
