    ORGANIZATIONAL CITIZENSHIP BEHAVIOR OF THE NURSES WORKING IN PUBLIC HOSPITALS

    Objective: To determine the citizenship behavioral dimension exhibited by nurses working in public hospitals and to assess the behaviors shown based on personal characteristics of the employees. Material and Method: Two hundred ninty-one nurses working in Northern Region Public Hospitals were included within scope of the study. A form composed of the criteria measuring socio-demographical properties of the research participants and OCB (Organizational Citizenship Behavior) scale were used as data collection tool. The questionnaire form consists of 32 questions in total together with the form also containing socio-demographic properties. The expressions used in the scale were composed with equally spaced Likert type. 5 refers to the highest approval situation perceived, 1 refers to the lowest approval situation when evaluating the expressions contained in the scale. Results: In the assessments according to the working manner, Benevolence, Conscientiousness, Virtuousness and Total OCB average points were found to be significantly higher for nurses who work only during daytime compared to those who keep watch (p<0.05). Benevolence and Gentlemanliness average points were found to be higher for married employees compared to singles (p<0.05). Average points at all sub-dimensions and Total OCB average points were found to significantly higher for those who have managerial duties and pleased with their jobs (p<0.05). Conscientiousness, Virtuousness and Total OCB average points were found to be significantly higher for those who have willingly preferred this job compared to those who have not preferred (p<0.05). Kindness average points were found to be significantly higher for women employees compared to men (p<0.05). Conclusion: The institutions must attach importance to job satisfaction matter in order to have an employee profile with citizenship conscientiousness in their enterprises, who are embracing their institutions much more, struggling to improve their job, making effort to facilitate their colleagues as well as their own job.

    COMMUNICATION MANAGEMENT IN HEALTCARE SERVICES

    Healthcare communication studies, which were conceptualized after interactions and transactions concerning healthcare issues among individuals were joined and practiced by communication theories, have gained momentum and become a popular application area in recent years. The most distinct application of healthcare communication, which represents the interface between people and healthcare and is applied on many levels, is to inform individuals and masses on healthcare, raise awareness, encourage correct/healthy behavior and ensure their sustainability, thus, improve general health. In the strict sense, healthcare communication is verbal exchange between doctor and patient. In broad terms, it is described as the active research area that focuses on interdisciplinary and multidimensional human interaction's part in healthcare and healthcare services. The healthcare communication concept is shaped within the framework of managing human health as a whole and supporting it in social life. This expanded the study area of healthcare communication from only medical aspect and added Bio-psychosocial Healthcare Approach, making it to evolve into preventive approach and resulted in healthcare services communication becoming a multidisciplinary area. Healthcare Communication programs were developed, a wide range of methods were created that are compatible for the said target audience and with special cases. Major ones may be named as Media Literacy, Media Advocacy, Public Relations, Entertainment Based Education, Educating Individuals and Groups, Developing Partnership and Social Marketing. Aim of this compilation is for healthcare professionals to utilize healthcare communication more effectively in order to discuss guiding suggestions within prospects of up-to-date literature in their relationships between patients, healthy individuals or families. That is why the studies are aimed to be a tool for healthcare communication to potentially steer individuals towards correct behaviors and improve living quality by informing, motivating and raising awareness.

Developing innovation and support systems, providing the infrastructure and inspections required for running them effectively, forming industrial problem solving strategies tailored for individual countries, progressing in accordance with long-term, sustainable, consistent and predictable policies as a whole is the only viable method to implement innovations, which utilize manpower and economic resources, transform and change, use revolutions in life sciences for the good of the public and human welfare and are catalysts for national economy in the light of science. The revolutionary developments in technology in the recent years have caused crucial transformations in healthcare field through their improvements on presentation formats and quality in diagnosis and treatment services. The status of conceptual changes in healthcare industry, which is one of the major sources and utilizers of innovative practices, the place and importance of innovation in healthcare system in Turkey and in the world are synthesized in a holistic approach.
