Nowadays, lifestyle is increasingly evaluated as one of the most important factors influencing health. As increasing health expenditure is an important problem for sustainable development, it is essential to examine the society in terms of their health-related habits and promote healthy lifestyle to support sustainable development. In this chapter, healthy lifestyle of highly educated Istanbulites is researched. The respondents are classified into three distinct clusters according to their healthy lifestyles as young and single individuals with low healthy lifestyle tendency. young and middle-aged individuals consuming natural food and elderly, married adults leading healthy lifestyles. Afterwards, analyzing the data by ANOVA and post-hoc tests, it is found that respondents in different clusters have significantly different green consumer values and health motivations. Specifically, it explores how the participating student teachers’ perceptions influenced their instructional practices as a result of participation in reflection activities. The participants of the study were ten freshmen student teachers enrolled in the English Language Teaching undergraduate program at a foundation (non-profit private) university in Turkey. Data came from the reflections of the participating student teachers about their recently-completed 15-hour field-based experience at the preschool level. As a part of this class reflection activity, the participants were prompted to keep a diary in one of their undergraduate courses and respond to a series of statements or questions related to their classroom observation tasks. They were also engaged in class discussions and were required to write their overall feedback based on their field-based experience. The findings of the study revealed that reflective activities helped the prospective student teachers identify their strengths and weaknesses related to classroom activities, use of materials (use of technology and visuals) and classroom management, leading to self-awareness about their understanding and application of teaching skills and strategies. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.Publication Open Access Exploring the interplay between deviance and loneliness at work(IGI Global, 2019) Yavuz, Meltem; Özbilgin, Mustafa F.; Kamasak, Rifat; Yavuz, Meltem, Istanbul Üniversitesi, Istanbul, Turkey, University of Leicester, Leicester, United Kingdom; Özbilgin, Mustafa F., Brunel University London, Uxbridge, United Kingdom; Kamasak, Rifat, Bahçeşehir Üniversitesi, Istanbul, TurkeyDeviance and loneliness at work are two constructs, the public interpretation of which locates them as social and economic problems that risk wellbeing and productivity at work. In line with the dominant framing of these two concepts, the authors first examine the overlap between them, explicating how and why deviance and loneliness may be similar. Through exploration of academic evidence and framing of both concepts, they provide a typology of deviance and loneliness that flesh out both destructive and constructive interpretations of the two concepts with a view to identify behavioral patterns at their intersection. © 2020 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
