Abstract
The study aims to examine the leadership potential of students diagnosed as gifted and students who undiagnosed as gifted in terms of a number of different variables. In this study, a quantitative research method was used and the data was gathered by using a survey. The sample of the research consists of 392 students from Istanbul in the 2018-2019 academic year. Leadership Potential Scale and Demographic Information Form were used in the study. SPSS 21.0 program was used to analyze the data. As a result of the analysis, the leadership potential scores of the gifted found to be higher than the leadership potential scores of students who undiagnosed as gifted. While the leadership potential scores differ in both groups according to age, school type and maternal education status, the differences were found only in gifted group in terms of the variables such as, the number of children in the family, participation out-of-school activities, and economic situation. On the other hand, it was found that the leadership potential scores did not differ for both groups in terms of gender variable. Similar studies can be carried out on different age groups and by providing leadership training to evaluate its’ effects. © 2022 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
