Abstract
Objective: The study was performed with a view to determining perceived nursing care of patients. Materials and Methods: Planned as a descriptive study, the population is adult patients who received patient treatment at a private hospital minimum for 24 hours. Data were collected by way of face-to-face interview from 165 patients from November 2017 to February 2018 through Patient Perception of Hospital Experience with Nursing (PPHEN) on the day of discharge. Results: The mean age of the patients who participated in the study is 46.61±16.89 and 52.7 % of them (n=87) are female. Days of staying in hospitals range between two and twelve and average period of staying in hospital is determined as 3.79±2.20 days. The mean PPHEN total score is calculated as 69.88±7.57. The highest Agreed response on the scale is 94.5 % for I am sure nurses will be there for me when I need. The lowest Agreed response on the scale is 57 % for Nurses provided me with information about the things I was not aware of regarding the hospital. Total score of PPHEN were found to be statistically meaningful for the patients diagnosed with a circulating system disorders whose experience shifted towards good/ favorable for nursing care, who were clearly satisfied with their day and night care sessions, and expressed that the nursing care received would play a remarkable role in their choice of hospital in the future (p<0.05). Conclusion: The mean PPHEN total score is 69.88±7.57, and the highest score that could be attained on the scale is 75. Hence it is concluded that the perceived nursing care of the patients who took part in the study is favorable. © 2021 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
