Abstract

This paper deals with the different treatment of the Deirdre legend by three Irish authors: Synge, Yeats, and Lady Gregory. What linked these writers was their desire to prove the artistic and the conceptual value of Irish mythology. It is also important to point to the important role the idealized Irish woman played in this mythology, an element which is particularly relevant for a Turkish reader of these texts.
