Exploring the emerging literature on technology entrepreneurship

Abstract

Technological innovations generate valuable opportunities for entrepreneurs to discover and exploit. Therefore technology entrepreneurship plays an important role in economic growth. The scholarly attention to technology entrepreneurship has recently increased, and this research deals with this growing literature on technology entrepreneurship. We identified 187 articles in Scopus database which include a phrase related to technology entrepreneurship and new technology venture in its title, abstract or. Our first aim in this research is to explore the knowledge base of technology entrepreneurship. Using bibliometric methodsspecifically citation and co-citation analysis based on the data from these 187 articles we aim to understand the knowledge bases of technology entrepreneurship research. Second we make a systematic review of the most influential 25 technology entrepreneurship article to identify the main topics studied in the literature on technology entrepreneurship. The results of this research give some ideas about the topics which have been ignored in the literature and help to identify and prioritize the gaps in the literature for future research.
