Abstract

The main purpose of this study was explore the relationship between academic achievement and motivation. In addition, motivational differences between gender and year level were investigated. Business Administration Faculty students (n= 323) completed the Academic Motivation Scale which was prepared by R. J. Vallerand. The Academic Motivation Scale consisted of 28 Likert-type scale questions related to intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation and amotivation. The results indicated that there is significant relationship between academic achievement and motivation. Besides, females got higher scores in intrinsic motivation. With regard to year level, there is significant difference in motivation by year in one subscale of amotivation. © EuroJournals Publishing, Inc. 2012. © 2012 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
