| dc.description.abstract | Most women express great interest in plastic surgery to restore a more youthful figure after having children. The most common contour change after pregnancy is seen in breast and tummy including both flanks and breast sides. Breast contouring and abdominoplasty are surgeries that make significant changes in body contour of women in her post-maternity period. It is commonly known as mommy make over. Mommy makeover has two procedures combined in one stage: breast contouring and abdomen contouring. Breast contouring after pregnancy is a procedure in which the excess skin and ptotic breast tissues are removed, nipple is repositioned, the contour as well as the mount of the breast restored. This procedure ends up in a much better shape, volume, and contour of the breasts. Similarly, tummy contouring after pregnancy is also a significant surgery in which the excess skin and fat are removed and the muscle, fascia layers are tightened, shaped, and repositioned. It is well reported that tummy and breast contouring surgeries increase the self-esteem, the quality of life, and self-image. This combined surgery also increases a woman’s confidence in sexual encounters. TABA (transabdominal breast augmentation) and abdominoplasty combined surgery through an abdominoplasty incision is a satisfactory option for mommy makeover. This combination has numerous advantages. Two goals of mommy makeover are achieved in one procedure. TABA is preferred in the pursuit of minimizing incisions and maximizing aesthetic results in one single procedure. Transabdominal breast augmentation is a safe, reliable procedure in the appropriately selected patients. It can be used in grade 1 and some of the grade 2 breast ptotic patients who request concurrent breast augmentation and abdominoplasty. Indications, technique, postoperative management, pearls and pitfalls regarding this technique will be found in detail here in this chapter. © 2024 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved. | |
