Fission Energy Production

Abstract

The chapter presents a general overview on nuclear fission energy production. Chapter starts with the fundamentals of the fission process and fission energy production. Importance of the neutrons in nuclear reactor technology is highlighted. The Boltzmann neutron transport equation is explicitly evaluated. Conventional and advanced nuclear reactors are addressed. Major Gen-IV nuclear reactor types are reported. Finally, major space nuclear reactor systems are investigated.
