Abstract
In this study, an artificial intelligence (AI) literacy curriculum was developed for secondary school students, and since it was a design and development research study, three different applications were made to adjust the curriculum. In the first stage of the curriculum development, artificial intelligence literacy competencies and program development model were determined. Afterwards, a 12-week planning was made and the first phase implementation was carried out with secondary school students, the second phase implementation was carried out with pre-service teachers and the last phase implementation was carried out with teachers and data collection was carried out at each stage. In the first implementation, achievement test, rubric, research diaries and lesson observation form, in the second implementation, rubric and in the third implementation, semi-structured interview form were used to collect data. Quantitative and qualitative analyses were conducted with each implementation and the curriculum was updated after each implementation. With the data collection tools, it was aimed to develop and finalize the curriculum after each phase. In the data obtained, it was determined that the curriculum was effective in terms of artificial intelligence literacy and in a way to gain planned objectives. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
