Abstract

This chapter is focused on how to design the instruction by using a specific instructional design model, called UbD (Understanding by Design). Children of Generation Alpha, who are born into the digital world, start their education by having a good command of technology and technological devices. With their inborn capacity and sophisticated knowledge for using technology, teaching these children can be both easy and difficult as they can easily be distracted in the learning environment unless they are provided with meaningful tasks, having a patterned connection to each other. As mentioned before, UbD is an instructional design model, consisting of three patterned stages, named as desired results, evidence, and learning plan. Throughout the chapter, teachers of Generation Alpha received information about how to use this model, help their students transfer their knowledge into their daily lives, and create a learning atmosphere for enduring understanding. © 2021 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
